The Mpumalanga Youth Choir plans to tour to the 12th World Choir Games next year in 2023, yet funds are needed for the choir to take 70 members through to Korea next year. For the past years the Mpumalanga Youth Choir has been invited to overseas tours, events and competitions but the choir couldn't achieve the goals due to not raising enough funds to take all members through. The Mpumalanga Youth Choir is a non-profitable organization that is dependent through sponsorship and donations. Members do pay monthly fees that cover transportation to performances, food at rehearsals, admin work and other.
In 2017 the choir won Talent Africa and were invited to go through to New York for Talent America. But due to not raising enough funds the choir couldn't tour to America. Same with previous years like in 2015.
The Choir didn't give up on touring overseas and next year again is a great opportunity to tour abroad once again.
The Mpumalanga Youth Choir is currently working hard to get to the World Choir Games next year. Projects of approaching sponsors have been out. The fate will depend on the 15 of November if the choir can go through or not as they should have a deposit of 1 Million Rand payed to the World Choir Games organization. The full amount to take 70 members is 2 Million Rand, where each member must pay R30 0000. This includes the accommodation, flight tickets, registrations and tour guides. The Mpumalanga Youth Choir is hoping to achieve this goal of going to Korea next year. " It has been several times that we struggled to go tour overseas due to funds, but we will try until we succeed" - statement by Andre Oosthuizen the conductor of the Mpumalanga Youth Choir.
The Mpumalanga Youth Choir is a Non-profit organization and they are in the process of becoming a Public Benefit Organization that can help companies by partnering and helping the choir with sponsors. Touring to Korea will be a huge privilege and honor for the Mpumalanga Youth Choir,as they are great in what they do. They are internationally recognized and they strive for excellence in everything that they do.
One of the parents once spoke to the conductor stating what you are doing for my child is appreciated, the conductor then asked the parent what are we doing. The parent responded :
You are keeping my child from the street
You keeping my child from doing drugs and alcohol
You are teaching my child what responsibility is
You are training my child to be best
You are shaping my child's future
and many more
The Mpumalanga Youth Choir does a lot of things for the Youth that many people don't realize. Helping them to go tour overseas would be a huge blessing in their lives. The members deserve each and everything in every possible way.
